Brown Juice

by Cherie
(Birmingham)

Q: I juiced apple juice yesterday and it turned brown, can I still drink it?

A: Hi Cherie! No, I would not drink your juice if you juiced it yesterday and it turned brown. Once juice turns brown it has oxidized and lost it's nutritional value. And after 24 hours, it may be toxic. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! This is why commerical juice companies must pasturize (heat to a high temp) the juice so that the shelf life can be longer. I really recommend trying to drink it as soon as possible after it's juiced.
