Nutribullet

Q: Hi, I recently watched an infomercial regarding the "Nutribullet". What are your thoughts on this juicer? Thank you.

A: Hi Michio! I, too, have been seeing many informercials for the Nutribullet on TV lately. Overall, I think it's an okay machine. But I do have a few key thoughts on it...

First of all, it is not a juicer, and not a traditional blender. A juicer seperates the juice from the fiber and truly "extracts" the juice and nutrients from the produce. A blender mixes the produce together, into a smoothie, not a juice. A ho-hum traditional blender mixes without really cutting through the produce to make it smooth.

The Nutribullet seems to be selling us on "extracting" the superfood nutrition from the produce. This can be confusing because it is helping to break down the cell walls of produce to help our body digest the smoothie better. However, it is not extracting the juice. So it's better then a traditional blender, but at the end of the day, is a blender.

The Nutribullet is essentially a smaller version of a high powered blender, like the Vitamix or Blendtec. I love these blenders. I personally have the Vitamix and would recommend it to anyone.

These blenders are high powered and create a vortex inside of the blender that really does pulverize the produce, nuts or whatever is put inside. I think the idea behind a personal one is good.

The Nutribullet is very small, you can only make one serving. It has 600 watts of power and turns at 10,000 RPMs. The Vitamix is large and you can make dips, soups and is a bit more versatile. It has 1380 watts of power and has between 500 - 37,000 RPMs depending on what variable switch you are using.

If you are looking for a juicer or for real juice, this is not the machine for you. If you are looking for a blender, this is an option but I would go with the Vitamix any day over this.

It has a proven track record and good warranty, there are no questions about it's integrity and superior functionality. It also has a superior motor and is basically designed to get beat up and not break. While its a little more expensive, you do get more and it's bigger...so just some thoughts.

I hope that these thoughts were helpful for you!

Love it!
by: Kath

I read all of the reviews before I bought. I ended up with the Nutribullet at the recommendation of a health food store owner. She was right.

It's the perfect choice for someone trying out this type of nutrition. As others have said, it's easy to use (just throw the stuff in almost whole), super easy to clean and in my opinion just the right serving size. The motor is large enough to do the job well as opposed to lower end products. And compared to the features of the higher end appliances, it's a bargain. Can't recommend it enough!

Returned juicer for the Nutribullet
by: Jennifer

I recently returned my Breville juicer for the Nutribullet. Although I loved the juicer and the energy I felt after juicing, it wasn't working out for me overall.

For one I live in a small apartment, so there was a lack of counterspace. Also, I had tons of pulp leftover from juicing. I was starting to scatter it among the flowers in the garden, but there was still much left over.

I don't cook much, so keeping it to cook with was not an option for me. I was throwing away the pulp, which I felt guilty over since it was very wasteful. Also, it was a bit time comsuming to prepare the juice in the mornings before work and taking the time to clean it afterwards.

For all these reasons, I thought it was best for me to switch to the Nutribullet, which my sister uses and recommended. Here is why I prefer the Nutribullet: it's small so it's perfect for my small kitchen, it uses the whole vegetable and fruit so there is nothing leftover to discard, its much faster to prepare and clean up. I can take the same cup I prepared everything in to work with me and drink straight from it.

For those that are not hardcore about juicing, I think the Nutribullet will serve your needs well. It's a great way to incorporate more vegetables and fruits into your diet and just be overall heathier.

Nutribullet
by: Anonymous

It is by far the best unit I have ever owned for emulsifying fruits and vegetables. It is powerful and makes short order out of producing a nutritious drink for weight loss or just general improvement in health. Ohhh, did I say it is a breeze to clean? A real joy to use.

For Me, NutriBullet is Hands-Down Winner
by: Anonymous

After considering several options, I just purchased a NutriBullet. Here's the main reasons why I made my decision:

Juicer/Juicing v. NutriBullet. Why would you extract juice only and completely discard the pulp and all other nutrients with it? The NutriBullet processes everything without waste, you consume it all, and receive the entirety of the benefits of the entire fruit or vegetable.

Why Not a Blender? Unless you purchase and install a separate blade AND your motor has the cojones, your average blender merely mixes things around. My Nutribullet pulverizes virtually anything I throw into it. Using it only 2 weeks now, e.g., CASHEWS is something I use every 4 days or so and it turns them into a liquid you can drink from a straw! Does your blender do that, or instead give you, er, nut chips?

Convenience: It's true I only otherwise own a standard Oster blender and not a juicer, food processor (well, I do but it's just a behemoth I don't bother with), or similar hi-end extractor/juicer, but I DO know, that most of those products can be intricate, tricky, and more or less a hassle build, break-down and to clean. The NutriBullet requires you to clean only TWO pieces really (well, OK, 3 if you screw on the cup handle): a 24-oz cup, and the smallish round blade mechanism. That takes literally ONE MINUTE at the most (1 min 15 seconds if you use the cup ring - haha). I am NOT kidding.

Footprint: The NutriBullet is quite small with maybe a 4" in circumference footprint on your counter -- takes up MUCH less space than some other monster mixer or processor.

Price: $99 plus tax (if applicable) at WalMart or Target. I bought mine at the former where they shipped it to the store for free (then I just waltzed in and picked it up). I KNOW you can pay $200-$300 for other products.

That's about it. Basically the NutriBullet seems to be much more efficient, produce healthier results much more simply and efficiently, and without more of a storage or cleanup commitment that would cause you to think twice about hauling out other contraptions. Personally I think it is as close to a perfect solution as you can obtain.

I own it and love it.
by: acimag

I got mine a month ago. Use it 2 times a day and no blender works this good. I have began losing weight and feeling very energized. but my advice is simple, its cheap compared to vitamix and blendtech and if your on the fence about getting healthy this is a great trial. One day I will upgrade but for now the portions are perfect and fit in a large cup perfect. My friend with a blendtech has a hard time portioning out the vegetables.

Nutribullet Comments
by: Dave

Yes, the Nutribullet is basically a blender with a specialized blade...but it is also only $100 versus a Blentec or Vitamix, which are sure nice to have if you've got the money to plunk down on them.

The Nutribullet is a good entry option for those thinking of getting into the whole juicing/blending thing. No it is not a juicer - but you do essentially do the same thing with blending ... Juicing vs blending is a big debate (and I do believe there are advantages/disadvantages in both ... You have to do your own research on this, but honestly the most general idea is to get more fruits and vegetables into your diet. Both can do that.

Good juicers cost in the neighborhood of $250-$350 (Omega is a top brand that has a VERY good warranty - see John Kohler's "rawfoods" youtube channel for LOTS of comparisons!)

Anyway - there is no "best" juicer or blender, although, if I had the extra money to spend, I would get a Vitamix ;-)

In the meantime, the Nutribullet is what I would recommend if one is wanting to try blending smoothies... If you find that you really like doing that and are willing to make a life choice and incorporate blending/juicing in your lifestyle, then start looking at the Vitamix or Blendtec.

Personally, if I had the money to spend (and by the way ... IT IS AN INVESTMENT in your health!!) I would buy an Omega 8004 juicer (possibly an Omega VRT 350HD - still up in the air on that one) as well as a Vitamix. Different machines for different purposes.

Anyway ... Just one person's opinion ;-)

Take care!
Dave

Use it every day
by: Anonymous

I have been through multiple juicers / extractors / what ever you want to call them. The biggest problem, "cleaning".

The Nutribullet takes about 5-10 minutes preparation and about 5 minutes or less to clean... Perfect for me. My regular mix is normally 3 veggies and 3 fruits,(Spinach, carrot and beet and then 3 fruits depending on the season). Then I add almonds, chia and ground flax, plus my daily boost of Greens Plus, fill it with water and mix for 1 minute. I take my daily vitamins, Krill oil and olive leaf extract at the same time. This lasts me till lunch time, however I still take a mid morning snack so that my crash is extended for about another hour.

I did however experience a emulsifier blade bearing failure on the first unit I bought, however Nutribullet offered me a replacement on the blade, but Bed Bath and beyond exchanged it for me, the second unit has been flawless and is used twice a day, once for my better half and one for myself.

Others have complained about leaking, however I never experienced this.
Anyone who faults this unit in my opinion 1. never wanted in the first place or 2. Is using it incorrectly.

If you register with them, they will extend your warranty by a couple of months. You can buy two types of warranties, I personally wouldn't go beyond 5 years as probably there will be a better unit in 5 years.
Be healthy.....

I spoke with the sales person at Bed, Bath and Beyond and he strongly suggested to not purchase the Nutribullet! He said it's nothing but a small blender with an extra blade.

Blendtec vs Nutribullet
by: Anonymous

I had the Nutribullet...Used it three times and gave it away. I now have a Blendtec and love it more than the others! I put in all my veggies and fruits and can "juice" them or I can "smoothie" them and much more. It's automatic with individualized buttons so the timing and speed is preprogrammed! I've made the best tortilla soup in it as well with so many fresh ingredients that "healthy" is only a mild word! Worth every dollar!
