The Angel Juicer Review

The Angel juicer is first rate.  When you want to buy a great car and you can afford it, you buy a Cadillac, a Mercedes-Benz or a BMW, depending on your tastes.

And so it is with juicers – when you want to buy a great one and you can afford it, you buy an Angel juicer. Like those fine vehicles, they aren’t cheap (around $1,200 for the most popular model), but they’re definitely worth it.

This company currently makes three juicer models for non-commercial, home use – the 5500, 7500 and 8500 S. All of them are high-end juicers and have a number of features in common. Let’s take a closer look.

On the plus side

  • All Angel juicers are low-speed, twin-gear, cold press juicers. They’re extremely efficient at juicing and feature the highest extraction rate of any cold press juicer being made. Compared to other twin-gear juicers, you’ll get up to 30% more juice and significantly more nutrients with an Angel juicer. These juicers create very little foam in the juice they extract, the pulp is very dry, and the juice consistency and flavor are superb.
  • The low-speed operation of these juicers means they’re quieter but slower to produce juice than high-speed centrifugal juicers. As long as you don’t “feed” them too quickly, they can handle just about any type of produce, including oranges, pineapples, grapes, celery, apples, cucumbers, leafy greens, lemons, limes, wheatgrass, barley grass, sprouts and pomegranates.

  • These are very versatile machines, and many people also use them to create nut butters, tofu and/or soy milk. According to the manufacturer, they’re the only juice extractors that are capable of extracting seed juice and live enzyme calcium – a nutrient that is said to play an important role in the regeneration of diseased cells in the body.
  • The juice extraction mechanism of all models is 100% stainless steel. Using only stainless steel parts is important for a couple of reasons: the extraction mechanism is sturdy, durable and strong; and it’s relatively easy to clean (all the parts are dishwasher-safe). They are fairly easy to disassemble for cleaning and then reassemble afterward. A thorough cleaning will take a few minutes, but Angels are easier to clean than centrifugal juicers.
  • Every juicer comes with an industrial-strength five-year warranty on the motor. That’s hard to beat.

Drawbacks

  • Using so much stainless steel is both good and bad. These juicers are built like tanks, but they’re also extremely heavy.
  • Although you’ll be impressed by the high quality of the unit itself, the plastic juice and pulp containers that come with the juicer seem cheap and are disappointing. They’ll stain if they’re not washed right away and they’re flimsy and easily scratched. Glass, stainless steel or even higher-quality plastic containers would have been better, especially for the premium price of these juicers.
  • A variety of attachments are available, to be used for different purposes. Unfortunately, at about $230 each, the attachments are pretty pricey.

Despite having some minor drawbacks (no juicer is perfect, after all...), Angel juicers produce delicious fresh juices with a great consistency, superb flavor, and more nutrients than juices from other products. If you can afford one, they’re first-rate.

This is a great choice. I have no doubt that most of you would like the Angel!
