Benefits of Chlorophyll in Greens

Green chlorophyll in leaf

Chlorophyll rich juices, green juices, have many advantages. While not the best tasting, they are palatable when paired with apples and some other fruits and vegetables.

What chlorophyll & greens can do

All greens have a cleansing effect on our colon and elimination systems, which in turn cleans our blood, lymph and cells. When a body is clean, it’s efficient and works properly.

It’s hard for a clean body to develop diseases or problems. Most problems in our body stem from a blockage in our body. When this isn’t an issue, you are free to play and live the way you want.

Our bodies are sick because our organs, glands, muscles and systems are intoxicated with wastes, drugs and chemical residue. Green juices are the best option for cleaning your body because of the cleansing effect that it has on our whole body.

Benefits that chlorophyll in greens can have on your body

  • Builds a high red blood cell count
  • Helps to purify liver
  • Helps to remove and counteract toxins
  • Helps blood sugar problems
  • Milk production
  • Reduces body odors
  • Soothes stomach ulcers
  • Improves circulation
  • Helps circulation to improve varicose veins & hemorrhoids
  • Deodorizes bowels
  • Some people find it helps inflammation for people with hepatitis
  • Alleviates asthma symptoms and slows nasal drip
  • Destroys bacteria
  • Helps to relieve inflammatory pain

What is chlorophyll and how does it work in your body?

Lets go back to science class in elementary school. You might remember a little bit about photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis in the leaves of plants has chemicals activated by sunlight to draw carbon dioxide from the air through the pores of the leaves. It is the green pigment in the leaves that absorbs sunlight and changes it into chemical energy. After some chemical reactions of splitting of water molecules and recombining hydrogen/oxygen with carbon and oxygen of carbon dioxide, carbohydrates are formed.

It is often called the lifeblood of the plants. The chlorophyll molecule is almost identical to the hemoglobin molecule of the blood (the main difference being that there is magnesium molecule in the greens but there is iron in the center of hemoglobin). What’s really neat is that many green vegetables contain a little bit of iron in addition to the magnesium from the chlorophyll.

By consuming this nutrient which is nearly identical to our blood, it restores and cleans our systems. It’s simply amazing.

What contains chlorophyll?

Virtually all greens contain it. If it is green, it will have it (edible or not). Here is a basic list of the most popular greens used for juicing or blending into a juice.

  • Dandelion greens
  • Collar greens
  • Mustard greens
  • Wheatgrass
  • Barley grass
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Chard
  • Sprouts
  • Alfalfa
  • Turnip greens
  • Watercress
  • Parsley
  • Cilantro
  • Asparagus
  • Cabbage

Keep in mind that there are many more. If it is green, you can be sure it’s in there.

Healing with greens

Because greens and green juices are healing for these reasons, many people use or integrate them when in crisis or into their daily diet. If you have any health problems whatsoever, consider juicing greens and having more salads everyday.

Greens will increase your red blood cell count and clean out your body. A clean body is a healthy body. And a high red blood cell count helps to resist and remove disease.

An adequate amount of green juice to have every day would be approximately .5 to 1 fl ounces. When in crisis, many people have up to 4-5fl ounces of straight green juice.

If you are a beginner, be sure to mix your green juices with other fruits and vegetables to dilute it’s strength. While it will never do harm, it might detoxify rapidly in your system causing some discomfort.

If you don’t have a juicer and prefer to blend, you can have much more in a day this way. Green smoothies have chlorophyll and are a great way to get greens into your diet to heal and cleanse your body. Because you are blending the fiber with the juice in a smoothie, it takes a bit longer for your body to digest and won’t detoxify your body as rapidly.

Don’t be afraid to try them, after all, your health is important. Shortly after juicing greens daily, most people notice significant changes.
