Q: Hi. Does the Vitamix heat up the soup with a heating element or with some sort of friction?
A: Hi Nicole, The Vitamix does not have a heating element within the blender. That's what's pretty cool about it. It heats up the soups by being so powerful. The friction + the power makes heat created by the machine being on the highest speed. I'm not quite sure of the technical aspects of the design, because the machine does not feel hot at the base and it's completely safe, but it sure works great. The blades just go so fast that it can heat up the soups beautifully. It also comes in handy if you put too many frozen fruits in when making a smoothie. It can help melt the ice to make it a smoother liquid.
